Well people, today, July 22, is my birthday. I just wanna say thanks to all the people who wished me well. Everyman is a product of his environment and I truly believe that the people involved in your life make a massive contribution in shaping the person you become as you grow. I'd like to think that I am a pretty good man, though not without faults as no man is, but good nonetheless. Thanks to the one and only Father up above for blessing me with life and surrounding me with these people. Big ups to everyone and I pray I'll be able to say this again next year. One Love.

So... Another Successful Tour Is Complete!!!

Yes people... whew! 3 weeks of hectic travelling, crazy shows and mad studio vibes has come to a successful close. Before I go any further I must first say special thanks to Adam Lukas (@bassrunnermusic) and Mean Dog for organizing such a great and smooth running experience. Also, special shouts to all the people that came out and the ones we met or linked with along the way. Every single show was a smash and every single day was hard work. I wish some people could experience it and put a rest the 'bed of roses' notion. 3 months of a 9 to 5 could never compare to 3 weeks on tour... believe me, I've done them both. I'm home 4 days now and my eyes are still bloodshot, mainly from lack of sleep (I miss white eyes...lol). Special mention goes out to: Rome - for having the craziest crowd (DAMN!), Napoli - for real dancehall enthusiasm, Amsterdam - for having the old school DJing behind soundsystem vibe, Slovenia - for the unexpected mad party(crazy fun crowd), Sweden - for the love they showed us and Helsinki, Finland for the great passion for the music and the sense of history we share. All the other stops were excellent but the pre-mentioned ones really stood out to me. We've been touring Europe for 10 years now religiously but we've never done one like this... 3 straight shows to start it off, then 2 days off... then something like 12 shows in a row. Normally, we do maybe 4 or 5 then a day off or two with that pattern repeating through out the tour. Hard work I tell ya. Big respect to the producers we came across on this trip also. I think we recorded like 4 tracks while on the road (if my memory is correct). Big up Million Styles inna Sweden fi the link up weh long overdue. Respect to Gabriel, Dan, Serocee and the rest of the crew from England that came over to Amsterdam for the link up also long overdue. Too many names to name... Bless up all. Now, I'm back home with my family and I'm going back to sleep. LATER!!!!!!!!!!!! big up Char and Kali ;^) BADA BADA GANG 2 D WORLD!

Round 1 Complete...

We just finnished the first round of shows. Bienne, Switzerland... Stuttgart and Konigseggwald, Germany. Today we fly to Vienna, Austria for 2 rest days (which will be anything but...). Ago link up mi good bredrin Camel, do some studio work and get ready fi round 2 in Naples, Italy on Wednesday. The shows were so much fun and the people were magnificent. The show lastnight started messed up tho...crazy mic feedback but after it got sorted...it was on. At the end of each show we do a selectors set where we become selectors once again. In this set we play the songs on the Cosa Nostra riddim to introduce it to those not in the know. That part is so much fun, going all the way back to our roots and musical beginnings aided by our tour manager Adam from BassRunner Soundtribe. You should see us emceeing like back in the day...maaaad on the stage! Cosa gone... Packing now so later people...

What's up people?! Lemme introduce myself for a minute.

I've been a Ward21 Fan for 10 years, and how time flies when you're having fun!!! I remembered viewing a programme about Jamaican Dancehall back in 2000, and saw Ward21 and Wayne Marshall voicing 'Blood Stain' in the King Jammys studio, and I thought to myself, WHO ARE THESE GUYS!?! They're WICKED! (Yes, old school english description haha!!)

Instant connect!! As I listened more and more to Ward21, I knew firstly, THEY WERE MENTALLY DISTURBED(Pun intended!) and they were the exact injection of humour, versatility and style Dancehall needed. I could listen to the tracks for hours... I remember building the first Ward21 Website, I was so proud! LOL.

Well, 10 years later, everything remains pretty much the same. I have come to realise the greatest thing about these guys are not only talent, but their MODESTY. It does wonders for keeping fans loyal in my opinion. Having come to know the members over the years has been a pleasure, and although I'm not always as up to date as I once was (Three pickney and ting = Time consumed!) my dedication is the same.

Naturally, when the beautiful TNT ladies came on the scene, I was excited to see how the Ward21 Production was going to move these ladies forward, and it's been exciting to see their growth over such a short period of time! Lasty, D1, the newest member of the Bada Bada Gang, I look forward to seeing and hearing more from him!

Well, after that long ting post, that's just my background. On this blog, I hope to deliver some occasional humour, any Europe or UK specific updates, some thought provoking topics, pics and what not. So stay tuned people!!

Mmmm... slept late(ish). Woke up and saw Ben 10 on the tv. I miss my family. Just pre a mad tune fi a riddim weh mi hear D1 play on him keyboard... wonda if mi like it! Why is it so hot already? Its not even 9:30am yet... Just got a call from one more artiste coming to drop off files for his Cosa Nostra song... (reminds me of Bellyas back in the day). Waiting on an email from a producer... need that TV Track for tour. Have more songs to mix but I dont know where to start... why do some artiste voice more tracks than the riddim itself? This aint R&B... Its original drum and bass dancehall! Keep it simple dudes! The majority of the world dont understand what you are saying anyway.

What Started It All - Do You Remember This?

Bada Bada Riddim was the first Hit riddim from Ward 21 and Haters was their first Hit Song...Went on to stay 10 weeks at the top in the UK breaking the record then held by Bounty Killer's "Anytime".

Demos...

Since the 'Cosa Nostra' came out a few weeks now, I've never listened to so many demos from artistes in my life. Not even during our time at Jammy's when Bada Bada was #1 riddim with atleast 3 songs in the top ten have I heard so many artistes sending demos with a song on the riddim. Bless up to the people that dig the riddim. Hopefully we can mek it shot out to a much greater success! God willing...

Timberlee - "the general" Cosa Nostra Riddim

A bad few days....

So, 2 days ago I was mixing a song. Everything working fine and sounding good. I took a break to watch some tv and clear mi ears and my mind. I came back to find that one side of my headphones for some mysterious reason just gave up and stopped working. WHAT THE FUCK! I WAS JUST MIXING! IT WAS JUST OK! It was always handled with care mainly because studio headsets cost too damn much. Oh well... mixing is a bit impaired now but I can handle it until I get a new set.

The following day, Man United got ousted from the UEFA Champions League... on the away goal rule...
Even tho United won the match, the opposition had 1 more away goals than the reds. Now those who know me well will know that I'm a diehard United supporter. Ever since the age of 7 I have loved this club (and thats way before the successful years with Sir Alex as manager). No plastic or conditional fan here. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I can deal with it, especially since United played really well and did not dissappoint the expectations of the fans.

Today, I drove to New Kingston then back home to get some work done. I agreed to vacuum the car so why not do it before i get caged into my work... 30 mins later....
The inside of the car is spic and span but now the car wont start. WHAT THE FUCK! THATS A BRAND NEW BATTERY! ONE VACUUM? REALLY?
Got the jumper cables out now so a friend of mine can help me out. Then my son has a potty emergency right in this moment so Suku will sort out the jump start for me... ...It starts! YES!
Better check it tho... switch off.... (hold breath)... switch on.... YES!
Went back to do more work then back to check it a few hours later when I was done working.
not even a click.... WHAT THE...(you get the idea by now...)
I cant believe the brand new battery is dead! smh! Not even a spark when I touch the terminals.
Oh well, more unplanned expenses but I'll deal with it.
For the last 3 days or more, life has been testing me and my family. We all go through rough times and I'm no different from the next man...
BUT...

...AS GOD IS MY WITNESS...

...ME AGO KICK OUT THE WHOLE A LIFE TEETH DEM TOMORROW AND SHOW IT SEH MI STONGER THAN THAT!!!

We give artiste and only some thought it was good enuff to even write a song for. Shake my head at those calling me now even tho the riddim was there long time and they ignored it... mek we try offa the next one!

New Single!

Ok, so we just finished recording our new single today! The first single with the entire gang featured. Its called 'Hello Badmind'. With Tifa on the hook singing to the tune of 'Its My Time' by Fabolous and Jeremiah. The whole Bada Bada Gang spits fire on the verses totally giving it to 'badminded' people. Mixing this project was exhausting... gone to bed... tell you more another time... l8r!

So last night I got a call from friends living in the UK about seeing my video for "LOOK PON ME" on MTV! Maaadd!! That's all I gotta say about that! Not only is it a good look for me but a good look for dancehall and Jamaica as well. I'm so happy and excited.

The Name?

Someone asked me today how I came about naming the latest riddim 'Cosa Nostra'. Well, when I made the track I named it 'maffia' to save it on my pc. I chose maffia because I'm a big fan of maffia/mob movies and stories and I had watched 'Donnie Brasco' recently (for the millionth time). The movie was still fresh in my memory so I just went with maffia. The riddim was ignored for a few months by me until I was searching for a riddim to write 'The General' (Timberlee's song) to. I had the idea for the song and no riddim so I searched my database and there it was - maffia! After dusting it off and tweaking it a little, a few friends heard it and thought it was a sick instrumental and suggested we use it as a jugglin. I agreed. I had to give it a better name than 'maffia' tho... that name was only to save the file. I finally decided on 'Cosa Nostra' a few days later after watching some History Channel and seeing a program about Charles 'Lucky' Luciano, 'The Commision' and the Italian cosa nostra. I immidiately changed the name from 'maffia' to 'Cosa Nostra', played it for Tifa and she voiced 'Reject' which was the first song recorded on it. Thats how 'Cosa Nostra' was born...
